About Jan
Dr. Jan Powell, Ph.D.
Jan hails from Portland Oregon, where she was the founding Artistic Director of the innovative Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.
She has also served as the Producing Artistic Director for Quill Theatre/Richmond Shakespeare,
Artistic Director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, and is an active member and past president of the international
Shakespeare Theatre Association.
Jan has produced and directed most of the Shakespearean canon, including all of the histories.
She has also directed a wide variety of performances:
original work, classics, musical theatre, opera and operetta, historical readings, and written/adapted/devised works.
In addition to her theatrical direction, Jan is the owner of
JP Public Speaking & Communication, where she coaches and consults with professionals of all kinds.
